A History Of John Brown & Sons

History of Emsworth Bowling Club

Starting A Bowling Club (June 1990 - February 1994)
( Extracts from "Tempus Fugit 1989 - 1997" )

On 21 June 1990 the first meeting of a Steering Group, set up by Jack Brown, to progress the setting up of a bowling green, was held and attended by Jack Brown, Bill Cooper, John Durant, Alan Lee and Sid Slape.

And so further discussion, followed by new hope in 1993 of a deal related to Coldharbour Farm land and the provision of a new bowling green and pavilion by Triangle Construction Ltd. And then in 1994 jubilation as the land swop deal was approved. Next to a picture of a delighted Jack Brown is a quotation from Sidney Slape "Its a great day, we've had lots of people calling to register their names as prospective members".
