And so at last, on 5 July 1997 the then Mayor of Havant, Councillor Alan Emerson, formally opened the new Emsworth Bowling Club to the delight of all Emsworth Bowling enthusiasts.

I hope that like me you feel a debt of gratitude to Jack, Tessa Daines and other Havant Councillors, the Triangle Construction Company, the members of the original steering group and those who came after, who worked selflessly to progress the establishment of this friendly bowling Club and hope that all our members will pull together to make this one of the happiest clubs in this lovely part of the world
